Re: Be Who You Are: How To Live An Authentic Life

Life Experience and trusting God's plan are the two top ways I have found to find who you truly are and live authentically.

In my 20's, I thought I had "the plan" and if I was focused, determined and smart, it would come with time. But as we all know now in our 40's, that's a great idea.

Now in my 40's, I realize having the 'dream' is only part of the formula for finding your true purpose. It's the picking yourself up after something you didn't expect that helps you find out what you really have inside. It's tough and gentle at the same time. Life experience has a melody all it's own and you have to pay attention to hear every note.

Here are other ways I have found to finally live authentically:
1. Believe in the unknown.
2. You have the capability to be something different if you choose it to be.
3. Prayer works.
4. Always speak the truth, even if you are scared what will happen next.
5. Become the way you wish the world to be.
6. Lay in the grass and just look up to the sky. It's amazing.
7. Laugh...... a lot.

Posted to: Be Who You Are: How To Live An Authentic Life

Re: How do you get on Boards of Directors to make a difference?

I am a nurse and have heard that doctors for instance get seats on boards by donating money. I believe that it should not be that way, however I have seen that people who can donate the most seem to have more power.
Rita Lawrence

Posted to: How do you get on Boards of Directors to make a difference?

How do you get on Boards of Directors to make a difference?

I am 62 and have been trying for years to get on boards to make a difference. With over 30 years in business and education, I believe I can make a substantive difference. However, I find it difficult to find the right connections to achieve that goal. Suggestions, please?

Posted to: How do you get on Boards of Directors to make a difference?

Hi my name is Donna Marie and I am co-founder of ShesConnected.com - a site designed for busy women - who work. Our site boasts the first national directory of women's groups. We also allow women the option of having 2 profiles - one personal and one professional and the two are not linked....but you can manage them from one interface. Would love to get your feedback.

Posted to: Connecting with fellow entrepreneurs about marketing on Facebook & Twitter

There is a woman named Lynda Miller who, 14 years ago, founded Support For The Kids. Please go to her site, www.supportforthekids.org, & see her tireless & uplifting efforts for foster & underpriviledged kids & their families in Ventura County, CA. Many of us would love to have her considered for recognition of her beautiful heart.

Thanks-

Judi Fields
jbfsings@aol.com
818-707-3784

Posted to: How do I nominate someone for a Minerva Award?

Re: How has The Women's Conference empowered your life?

I must be honest... this is the first one I have seen. but it was wonderful... so much inspiration, hope, faith, and love.... Maria is a wonderful woman ... needless to say. it has reaffirmed my inner strenght , for the past couple of years I have been lacking on that personally- though I have never given up on my fellow (wo)man.... it is my life's work. But deep in me I was a bit lost. I have just celebrated my 50th birthday, gotta say don't feel a day over 30 :) So I have come to the realization that it is time to reinvent myself. So I am setting out to create a new opportunity for myself and at the same time all that cross my path in one way or another shall reap the benefits of the new me. Everything and anything is possible... I never thought that Iwould see a person of color in the white house but alass we have a black president, and there I was hoping to atleast get to see a madame president in my lifetime.. so for that one I'm still hopeful thank you all who participated and spoke at the conference I have been re-newed.

Posted to: How has The Women's Conference empowered your life?

Tell us about your personal experience with the Election 2008. There were a lot of important propositions in the state -- and of course, the presidential race! How did you come about with your choices? What were the conditions like at your polling place?

Posted to: What was it like voting for you this year?
