Re: How To Be the Ultimate Caretaker: Alzheimer's, Cancer, Aging Parents

it's a tough and much effort job for a parent or caregiver that lead to stress and boredom of daily routine, but it depends how you accept it.
it needs not only patience but more of willingness. for most of people who did not understand the situation and how become a patient like them and some people think that they are our burden and not as a victim of illness,
have empathy, feel if they were you,
and you will understand what they need.so the emotion of giving help and sympathy will arise within you to have the willingness to do the job,
and be thankful that it's not us,it's better to be the giver of help than be the receiver.

Posted to: How To Be the Ultimate Caretaker: Alzheimer's, Cancer, Aging Parents

Re: Time For Yourself?

I have recently become officially a single parent. I say officially because even though we were together, we were NOT "together" for a long time. I moved 5 hours away from her father, but not because of any danger. I had an opportunity to really put a future together for myself and, in turn, for my daughter. She is 4 years old and there IS hope for our family, but this move had to be made. Having said all that, I greatly underestimated the single parent role. The only time I have for myself, it seems, is when nature calls or to have a bath/shower. Of course that doesn't mean I'll be by myself during these times either, but usually that's when I seize the moment. It's tiresome and even frustrating at times, but I have to remind myself that it IS just me and her now. These sacrifices of my time are nothing when weighed against the positive affects of giving my time to her when she really doesn't have anyone else to "be with". When I was pregnant, I remember the warnings of so many women before me who regretted not stopping to take it all in. It's important to realize that these years will go by faster than we know or, in the end, will have wanted. I try to heed the advise to cherish all that I can while I can and it helps me get through the less-than "me" times.

Posted to: Time For Yourself?

I think it gets easier and more available as the your kids get older. One day you will be saying to yourself "OMG" I have so much me time, what do I do" because your kids will get lives of their own. Just know that not having too much me time now must mean that you are being a great involved parent!!!

Posted to: Time For Yourself?

Re: President of My Internet Safety Coach asks: What concerns you the most about your child's online safety?

My biggest fear is the inability to monitor and control what our kids are doing and seeing on the internet. Kids are born now wired for this technology and are more sophisticated than the parental controls available. Other than cutting them off totally...this is their world...they have to learn how to function in it and mostly make good choices...

Parents can never give up or give in. You have to ask questions, learn how to look around, and learn how to use the technology our kids using.

Posted to: President of My Internet Safety Coach asks: What concerns you the most about your child's online safety?
